STINE HOVLAND AL MILAN WEEKLY PODCAST – Il difensore del Milan Femminile, Stine Hovland, ha rilasciato alcune dichiarazioni durante “Milan Weekly Podcast“, trasmissione a cura di Radio Rossonera International. Qui di seguito, l’intervista completa sia in lingua italiana che in lingua inglese.
Riflessioni sul derby“Il derby è stato fantastico. Era il primo derby nella storia della Serie A Femminile. Stadio pieno, atmosfera fantastica ed un grande tifo. Ovviamente non è stato facile, è sempre difficile giocare i derby. Siamo contentissime di averlo vinto. Tre punti importantissimi. Il supporto dei tifosi era qualcosa di fantastico. Queste sono le partite che vogliamo vivere. Vogliamo lo stadio pieno e giocare match importanti come questo ogni settimana. Ci serve il supporto e spero che sempre più persone ci seguano. Siamo orgogliose ed onorate ad avere i migliori tifosi di Milano“.
Crescere in Norvegia
“Sono cresciuta in un piccolo paese che si chiama Vadheim, con popolazione ad oggi di circa 200-250 persone. Il tempo non è sempre bello ed un posto tranquillo ma per noi è il nostro paradiso. Ho iniziato a giocare a calcio all’età di 6 anni. Mio fratello era la mia ispirazione, volevo essere come lui“.
Mondiale Femminile
“Ero orgogliosa di rappresentare la mia nazione, è un sogno che si e’ avverato. C’erano un sacco di tifosi. Tutta questa esperienza è stata molto professionale, stadio di grandi dimensioni e con tifosi di altre nazioni. È stato fantastico“.
Crescita del calcio femminile
“Il Mondiale ha dato una spinta importante. Spero che le persone si rendano conto del valore che c’è nel calcio femminile. Ci serve il sopporto da parte di tutti, abbiamo bisogno di tanto tifo ed aiuto perché insieme potremo crescere sia dentro che fuori al campo“.
La firma con il Milan a Luglio
“Ero molto orgogliosa del fatto che il Milan mi volesse e si interessasse a me. È grandissimo Club con una storia importante. È un sogno che si avvera rappresentare questo Club ed esserne una calciatrice. Il Milan vuole costruire una grande squadra femminile ed io ne voglio fare parte. Lavoriamo di continuo, passo dopo passo, abbiamo la giusta fame e vogliamo migliorare sempre. Dire di “sì” al Milan è stato molto facile, lo volevo“.
Adattarsi alla vita in Italia
“È stato molto bello, non rimpiango nulla. Sono molto contenta di aver accettato il Milan e del trasferimento, anche perché mi piace molto Milano e l’Italia. Non conoscevo benissimo il campionato italiano prima di venire ma so che è cresciuto cresciuto tanto nel giro di 1 anno e molti grandi club vogliono costruire squadre competitive. C’e’ una bella concorrenza e si vede che il calcio femminile è in evoluzione. Parlo Italiano sul campo e fuori cerco di imparare la lingua ogni giorno. La mia frase preferita? Forza Milan! Abbiamo tante ragazze straniere e le compagne italiane ci aiutano a tradurre ma voglio imparare la vostra lingua“.
Musica nel pre partita
“Alcune volte mi fisso su una singola canzone ma altre ne ascolto più di una. Abbiamo una playlist per la squadra e tutti contribuiscono aggiungendo canzoni. La musica Italiana è molto bella, le ragazze Italiane l’ascoltano e mi sta iniziando a piacere tanto“.

Interview with AC Milan defender Stine Hovland
Thoughts on the derby victory
The derby was fantastic. It was the first derby in the history (of Serie A Women’s League). Full stadium, fantastic atmosphere, really good support from the fans. Of course it was a tough game, always tough when it’s a derby. We are so happy that we won. The three points were really important. The support of the fans was amazing.
These are the games we want to play. We want to have a full stadium. We want to play these important games every time so it was fantastic. We need the support and hope more people watch. We are really honoured and proud to have the best fans in Milano.
Growing up in Norway
I grew up in a really small place called Vadheim, today it has a population of 200-250 people. The weather is not always the greatest. It is a quiet place but for us it is a small paradise.
I started playing football when I was six years old. I got influenced by my older brother, I wanted to be like him.
Women’s World Cup
I was proud to represent my country. It was a dream come true. There was a lot of people watching, supporting the team. Everything around was so professional, it was a huge stadium and people supporting even from other countries. It was absolutely fantastic.
Growth of women’s football
The World Cup was a big boost. I hope people see the value in the women’s game. We need support from everybody, we need people to watch our games and support us. Together we will grow on and off the pitch.
Signing with Milan in July
I was really proud that AC Milan wanted me. It is a huge club with a lot of history. It was a dream come true to represent this club and be a professional football player. Milan wants to build up a good women’s team and I want to be part of that journey. We are taking new steps every day, in training, we are a hungry gang wanting to be better each day. Being part of that is something I really wanted. For me it was easy to say yes to Milan, it was the whole package.
Adapting to life in Italy
It has been really good, I don’t regret anything. I am so happy that I said yes to Milan and moved here. I really like Milan and Italy. I didn’t know much about the league before I came here, however from last year to now I know it has exploded. Many huge teams want to build up a professional women’s team. It’s good competition and you see that football is growing here.
I talk Italian on the pitch, off the pitch I want to learn new words every day. My favourite expression is Forza Milan.
We have lots of international players here and the Italian ones help us to translate. But of course I want to learn more.
Music before a game
Sometimes I listen to a particular song, sometimes it is mixed. We have a playlist for the team and everyone can put a song on the list and change it from time to time. I don’t have a particular song that I like. In Italy they have really good music, the Italian players obviously listen to it but I am starting to really like it.

On Tuesday we were training and we have to focus about our next game and be 100% ready. It doesn’t matter who we are playing against. We have to be serious and professional.
